Section 27
Redirectable

(1) Regardless of what is written in the existing law, if it is deemed necessary to divert the child for the best interest of the child, the following officer may decide to divert the child accused of a criminal act in the following cases:-
(a)   For a default which may extend to five thousand rupees or to a fine which may extend to two thousand rupees or to imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month, the Investigating Officer,
(b)   for a default which may extend to ten thousand rupees or to a fine which may extend to five thousand rupees or to imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, by the public prosecutor,
(c)   by the Juvenile Court for any offense or any fine or imprisonment.
(2) Notwithstanding anything contained in clause (c) of sub-section (1), a child shall not be diverted in a case punishable with imprisonment for three years or more.
(3) In case of dissatisfaction with the direction order, the child or the guardian may file an application in the Juvenile Court in case of clauses (a) and (b) of sub-section (1) and in case of clause (c) in the High Court.
